First-Ever EUV Adoption: Intel 4 in Full-Scale Production!

Intel recently announced a significant milestone in the world of semiconductor manufacturing. The company has initiated large-scale production utilizing Extreme Ultraviolet Lithography (EUV) technology for its Intel 4 process node. This achievement has widespread implications for the technology industry.

The Intel 4 process, codenamed "Meteor Lake," is scheduled for its official release on December 14th of this year. This development represents a substantial advancement in Intel's semiconductor manufacturing capabilities and is generating considerable interest in the technology sector.

Intel 4, as Intel's first process node to incorporate EUV technology, has demonstrated noteworthy improvements in performance, energy efficiency, and transistor density compared to its predecessors. Reports suggest that its performance is competitive with Samsung Electronics' 3nm and TSMC's 3nm processes.

Intel's message from China underscores the critical role that EUV technology plays in driving high-computational-demand applications, including artificial intelligence, advanced mobile networks, autonomous driving, and next-generation data centers and cloud applications. This technology is pivotal in helping Intel achieve its "Four Years, Five Process Nodes" plan and regain leadership in process technology by 2025.

The current status of various process nodes is as follows:

· Intel 7 and Intel 4 are already in full-scale production.

· Intel 3 is progressing as scheduled and is expected to be finalized by the end of 2023.

· Intel 20A and Intel 18A are leveraging RibbonFET all-around gate transistors and PowerVia backside power delivery technology, with a target completion in 2024.

· The Intel Core Ultra processor, known as "Meteor Lake," is set to make its debut on December 14th this year, utilizing the Intel 4 process node.

· The high-efficiency E-core-equipped Intel Xeon processor, "Sierra Forest," is poised to enter the market in the first half of the next year, utilizing the Intel 3 process node.

· The high-performance P-core-enabled Intel Xeon processor, "Granite Rapids," is also on track for a release in the first half of next year, following the introduction of Sierra Forest. These developments mark significant advancements in semiconductor technology.
